Public Defenders


The Public Defender's Office plays a necessary and integral role in the administration of the judicial system in Pearl River County. The office is staffed by a team of dedicated professionals who provide legal representation to indigent people charged with felony crimes in Circuit Court from arraignment through trial. Its members proudly ensure that every accused citizen, regardless of financial resources, receives zealous and effective representation as mandated by the United States and Mississippi Constitutions.

Our Services

The Pearl River County Public Defender's Office represents adults and juveniles in all phases of the criminal justice system. This representation starts shortly after an individual is arrested and continues through appeals and other post-sentence proceedings. The various proceedings for which our legal staff provides representation include but are not limited to:
