We had a successful County Fair this year! Participation was up in the horse show, lamb show, dairy show, swine show and youth exhibits! Our vendor spaces in the exhibit building were full, and we even had people on the waiting list. We would love to continue to grow our County Fair and have more Pearl River residents participate.
This year in the exhibit building we had 500 adult exhibits and over 2,000 youth exhibits. Several of the county schools entered artwork. We had a great livestock show, with 26 youth exhibiting 43 animals. Pearl River County youth participated in beef, dairy, lamb, swine and poultry. Youth also exhibited their poultry and rabbits in cages.
The pet show had 16 youth exhibiting 23 pets. The show included cats, dogs, rabbits and even chickens and a butterfly! There were 50 youth participating in the horse show. In the field day races 13 youth participated. The races included dashes, softball throw, football throw, sack race and 3-legged race, depending on their age group.
A new addition to the County Fair this year was the golf cart show. We had some great entries this year and hope to have even more next year! If you want to learn more about how you can participate in the County Fair, call the Pearl River County Extension Service Office at 601-403-2280.
